Salvatore Ferragamo celebrated its grand opening at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa on Tuesday amid fanfare and hoopla extra befitting the arrival of royalty than a shoe retailer.
About 500 guests crowded into the brightly lit, 5,600-square-foot retailer to get their first take a look at Ferragamo’s sherbet-coloured handbags, leather trench coats, elegant pumps and other luxury goods earlier than heading to a close by tent for an Italian buffet and fashion show of the Ferragamo spring collection. The gala was held in honor of the 35th anniversary of Angelitos de Oro, the auxiliary of Huge Brothers/Huge Sisters of Orange County.

Billed as “An evening in Tuscany,” the event started with guests ogling the boutique’s gleaming black lacquer and beige interior, with its marble flooring imported from Tuscany, shelves covered in beige grosgrain and black fixtures. Occasion-goers who did not want to squeeze inside the store mingled outdoors, admiring the small Italian gardens planted in every retailer window.
“We’re ecstatic so many people got here, especially with this rain,” stated Cecilia Nott, who co-chaired the occasion with Barbara Carr.
The South Coast Plaza store is the seventh Salvatore Ferragamo to open in North America. Massimo Ferragamo, president of the corporate’s North American operations and son of the ferragamo young thug late Salvatore, surveyed the surroundings along with his spouse, Chiara.
